Health Freedom Fraud? ReviveRX Founder in RFK Jr.'s Circle Caught Lacing Meds with Testosterone

A vetting crisis is rocking the Make America Healthy Again movement, with controversy swirling around Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s advisors, including Brigham Buhler, founder of ReviveRX Pharmacy, and the siblings, Casey and Calley Means.

As President Trump’s nominee for Surgeon General, Casey Means, faces scrutiny, Buhler’s pharmacy is embroiled in a scandal involving a Class I FDA "ongoing" recall, the most serious type, indicating a high probability that the product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.

The FDA warns that Buhler mislabeled testosterone vials, raising questions about patient safety and jeopardizing the integrity of the MAHA and MAGA movements.

ReviveRX, a Houston-based compounding pharmacy co-founded by Buhler, shipped 751 vials of tirzepatide, the active ingredient in weight-loss drugs Mounjaro and Zepbound, that were laced with testosterone and shipped to patients, prompting an FDA Class I recall, indicating a high probability that the product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.

According to the FDA, the mix-up could cause fatality due to hormonal imbalances, mood swings, or risks to patients with hormone-sensitive cancers like prostate or breast cancer.

The recall, reported only by the New York Post, The Healthy and investigative journalist Laura Loomer, was not publicly announced as ReviveRX filled prescriptions directly, allowing the company to contact affected patients.

Former FDA Acting Commissioner Stephen Ostroff called the error "serious," citing “lax processes and procedures” at ReviveRX.

People who take testosterone by mistake could suffer from hormonal imbalances, mood swings, and changes in sexual function, according to The Healthy, which earlier reported on the recall.

Meanwhile, as Buhler faces scrutiny for distributing vials of medications contaminated with testosterone, he continues to caution the public about hormone replacement therapy, stating "hormone optimization for men should not be considered unless you're experiencing symptoms of low testosterone, especially given the many factors that can impact overall health."

Buhler, a vocal critic of the FDA, has gained prominence in conservative circles, appearing multiple times on "The Joe Rogan Experience" and shows hosted by Tucker Carlson and Alex Jones. He has aligned himself with the Make America Healthy Again movement, led by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., participating in health policy discussions and claiming to be an advisor in the health freedom movement.

In a June 2023 podcast with Rogan, Buhler claimed the FDA’s funding from private industry creates conflicts of interest, accusing the agency of targeting small pharmacies to protect Big Pharma.

A video posted by Buhler in early 2025 showed him meeting with RFK Jr. in Washington, D.C., fueling speculation about his influence within MAHA.

The recall of ReviveRX’s shipment of tirzepatide is not the company's first misstep.

In May 2023, the pharmacy recalled its tirzepatide batches for being "sub-potent," indicating quality control issues.

A February 2025 FDA inspection uncovered "insanitary conditions" at ReviveRX’s Houston facility, including employees handling open vials bare-handed and using untested, non-pharmaceutical-grade filters for drug sterilization.

The FDA also flagged ReviveRX for illegally compounding unapproved biological drugs, such as human chorionic gonadotropin and Thymosin Beta-4, drugs that require rigorous clinical trials and FDA approval that ReviveRX lacks.

A separate recall was issued for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin due to bacterial contamination by Paenibacillus Lautus, which can cause various infections including sepsis, meningitis, and brain abscesses in infants.

ReviveRX’s general counsel, Matthew Ludowig, contends the company voluntarily reported the testosterone mix-up and views recalls as incentive to improve.

“With regard to prior recall events, we view every challenge as an opportunity to build, modify and enhance our organization,” Ludowig said in a statement. “We consistently vet our quality systems through internal pressure testing and training, third-party consulting inspections, and routine interactions with state and federal regulators.”

However, former FDA Acting Commissioner Stephen Ostroff criticized ReviveRX’s "lax processes," noting that while the recall’s impact was limited by the small volume shipped, the error was severe.

ReviveRX, a compounding pharmacy, specializes in replicating high-demand drugs like Tirzepatide and Semaglutide, used in Wegovy and Ozempic, during FDA-designated shortages.

Patients taking diabetes medications and injections rely on Tirzepatide to help them manage their symptoms, manage their weight, and control blood sugar levels.

The pharmacy also offers telehealth consultations and genetic testing through Buhler’s Ways2Well clinic, founded in 2018.

Eli Lilly,  the drugmaker behind the blockbuster weight loss drug Zepbound, filed a lawsuit against ReviveRX in 2023, accusing the pharmacy of illegally profiting from knock-off tirzepatide, though the case was paused over jurisdictional issues.

Casey Means, nominated by President Trump for U.S. Surgeon General, and her brother Calley Means, a White House adviser, are also embroiled in controversy within the MAHA movement.

However, Casey is under fire for the promotion of unorthodox health practices, including alleged use of illegal psilocybin and adhering to bizarre spiritual beliefs that consist of getting high on "shrooms" and talking to trees.

Calley, a former consultant to the food and drug industries and Buhler associate, has drawn criticism for his never-Trump stance before the 2024 election and for policies like banning direct-to-consumer drug ads.

Means siblings are also underfire for alleged conflicts of interest tied to Calley’s TrueMed, a company profiting from health savings account transactions.

The FDA considers the ReviveX recall "ongoing," pending confirmation that all affected vials have been recovered.

ReviveRX’s repeated violations, coupled with Buhler’s defiance—he has dismissed FDA oversight as a Big Pharma conspiracy—raise questions about patient safety and the credibility of MAHA’s health freedom rhetoric.

As compounding pharmacies exploit regulatory gaps, the public remains at risk from mislabeled or unapproved drugs, with Buhler’s operation at the center of a growing storm.
