A federal judge has put the brakes on President Trump’s push to deport the family of an Egyptian terrorist charged with a firebomb attack on a pro-Israel event in Boulder, Colorado.
U.S. District Judge Gordon Gallagher, a Biden appointee, issued a temporary restraining order on Wednesday blocking the Trump administration from deporting the wife and five children of Mohamed Sabry Soliman, the 45-year-old illegal alien who threw Molotov cocktails into a crowd of pro-Israel demonstrators on Sunday.

Soliman injured 12 people with incendiary weapons and a flamethrower while shouting "Free Palestine."
The FBI labeled it a targeted terrorist attack.
Soliman, who entered the U.S. legally in 2022 but overstayed his visa, was arrested, and on Tuesday, ICE detained his wife, Hayem El Gamal, and their children, all of whom reportedly also have expired visas.
Gallagher’s emergency ruling, prompted by a friend of the family, attorney Susanna Dvortsin, halts their removal, citing "irreparable harm" if deported before a hearing.
"Defendants are temporarily restrained and enjoined from removing Hayem El Gamal and her five minor children from the State of Colorado or the United States," the judge’s order stated.
The ruling holds until a June 13 hearing in Denver, with legal briefs due from Dvortsin by June 6 and the government by June 11.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, addressing the family’s detention, raised questions about their involvement.
Today, @DHSgov and @ICEGov are taking the family of suspected Boulder, Colorado terrorist, and illegal alien, Mohamed Soliman, into ICE custody.

This terrorist will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We are investigating to what extent his family knew about this… pic.twitter.com/fcjMiyWil7
In a social media video, Noem warned, "Mohamed’s despicable actions will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, but we’re also investigating to what extent his family knew about this horrific attack. If they had any knowledge of it or if they provided any support to it."
Acting U.S. Attorney J. Bishop Grewell revealed Soliman planned the attack for over a year and expressed "no regrets."
The case has ignited fierce debate.
Republican Rep. Gabe Evans of Colorado blasted local policies.
"This is a direct result of failed sanctuary states like Colorado and California. For the sake of our state, Democrats MUST stop putting illegals ahead of Americans. There are lives on the line," Evans said.

Meanwhile, Colorado Governor Jared Polis’ office pushed back, stating, “Colorado is not a sanctuary state and state, federal and local law enforcement work together closely to apprehend criminals, whether they are from this country or not."
They noted no prior federal requests were made to deport Soliman, whose legal status expired in March 2025.
The White House doubled down, with press secretary Karoline Leavitt declaring, "These individuals are going to be deported, and we’re not going to tolerate such violence in our country."
A terrorist attacks Americans, and now a Biden-appointed judge is shielding his family from deportation? This is the kind of insanity that President Trump is fighting to clean up.
The left’s obsession with protecting illegals over citizens is on full display, and it’s putting our safety at risk.
