In a nation already fractured by political venom, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel poured gasoline on the fire during his Monday monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live! insinuating that the alleged assassin of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk was part of the so-called "MAGA gang."
This claim flies in the face of emerging evidence and official reports pointing to the suspect’s leftist ideology, revealing a troubling willingness to distort facts for cheap laughs and political points.
ABC had responded to the backlash "indefinitely" pulled Jimmy Kimmel's failing late-night show off its schedule.
Hopefully, we never have to see Jimmy Kimmel's hacky monologue again.
Kirk, a prominent conservative activist, was fatally shot on September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University.
The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, a Utah native, faces charges of aggravated murder, felony firearm discharge, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering.
Authorities revealed text messages Robinson sent to his roommate, a transgender biolgical male, stating, "I had enough of his [Kirk] hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out. If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence. Going to attempt to retrieve it again, hopefully they have moved on."
FBI officials and Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed Robinson’s "leftist ideology" and growing radicalization, with FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino stating on Fox News, "It’s fairly obvious this was an ideologically motivated attack."
The New York Times reported Robinson held "hardening left-wing, pro-L.G.B.T.Q. views" and was not affiliated with any political party, nor had he ever voted, according to the Washington County Clerk.
Despite these findings, Kimmel used his platform to claim, "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it."

He further mocked President Donald Trump’s response to Kirk’s death, where Trump, when asked how he was "holding up," said, "I think very good," before discussing White House ballroom construction.
"He’s at the fourth stage of grief, construction,"Kimmel quipped. "This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish."
Kimmel’s comments followed his earlier Instagram statement mourning Kirk: "Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human? On behalf of my family, we send love to the Kirks and to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence."
A memorial for Kirk is scheduled in Arizona on Sunday, with Trump expected to attend.
Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two children.
As the nation grapples with this tragedy, Kimmel’s reckless narrative only deepens the divide, proving once again that some would rather stoke hatred than seek truth.
