A 20-year-old Mississippi State University student faces charges after hurling an antisemitic slur and tossing coins at Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy during a pizza review, authorities said.

Patrick McClintock, a junior mechanical engineering major, was arrested Monday on a misdemeanor count of disturbing the peace.

Starkville police issued a warrant over the weekend following a viral video of the Friday incident outside Boardtown Pizza & Pints.

Patrick McClintock, 20, was arrested for allegedly hurling an antisemitic comment at Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy as he filmed a pizza review.Starkville Police Department

The footage shows Portnoy filming his "One Bite" review when McClintock yells "F–k the Jews" and throws coins toward him.

Portnoy, who is Jewish, gestures at the heckler and says, "Why don’t you come in the camera, buddy?"

McClintock approaches Portnoy and his cameraman for a brief exchange before walking away.

A bystander yells, "F–k you, get out of here," while a woman says, "That was awful."

Starkville police stated: "Every person has the right to feel safe and respected in our community … Offensive words alone are protected, but when behavior disrupts a public event or risks violence, the Starkville police department will take steps to help maintain safety and security."

McClintock was processed and released on a $2,500 bond.

He withdrew from MSU on Monday afternoon, a university spokesperson confirmed.

Portnoy posted the video, McClintock’s mugshot and a response on social media, calling him a "loser" and saying, "I hope it was worth it for this kid to do this little stunt."

In a CBS interview preview, Portnoy told anchor Tony Dokoupil, "For me, being a Jewish person, like, you got to step up … You’re kind of someone people look up to in the Jewish community. You have to be, like, 'All right, this is not normal haha with the guys. People are coming up with real hate.'"

Portnoy added, "I’ve seen in my own experience, just being Barstool, the difference between how much hate I get. I never got — I mean, occasionally you get 'Hey k–e'; or 'Jew' or whatever. It’s every day now. There’s a definitive shift in what’s going on."

A similar incident occurred this summer when someone yelled "F–k the Jews" at Portnoy during a review in Toronto.

A crowdfunding campaign on GiveSendGo for McClintock's legal defense has raised nearly $9,000 at the time of this publication.

Earlier this year, Portnoy offered to send two customers to Auschwitz after an antisemitic sign appeared at his Philadelphia bar, reading, "Fuck the Jews," but later rescinded the offer after one denied responsibility.
