Democrat Vows Revenge: Rep. Subramanyam Promises Investigation of Musk for 'Crimes Committed' by DOGE

A firestorm is brewing in D.C., where the left is hurling accusations like Molotov cocktails at Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency.

Rep. Suhas Subramanyam, D-VA, appeared on MSNBC’s “The Weeknight,” where co-host Symone Sanders raised alarms about Elon Musk’s influence in Washington.

Sanders pointed to reports that Musk and his DOGE team had installed servers in the White House complex and gained significant access to the Office of Presidential Personnel, with influence extending across multiple federal agencies.

"Let’s talk about Elon Musk. You know, I’ve seen a lot of headlines, Congressman, over the last 24 hours. Elon Musk’s exit: he is leaving Washington. But I think that Elon Musk is just finished," Sanders said. "I have not heard a lot of Democratic elected officials talk about the data."

She questioned what Democrats plan to do about the data allegedly still housed on those servers.

"Elon Musk and his DOGE peeps, if you will, they installed servers within the White House complex," the MSNBC host said. "They were integral within the office of presidential personnel, which has tentacles out into every single agency they are. They have inroads into every single agency. Now the DOGE was in there, and the servers, I don’t think, have left the White House. So what are Democrats going to do about the data? Are you all going to follow up on this?"

Subramanyam didn’t hold back, claiming Musk committed crimes that Democrats will investigate once they regain control of the House.

"Yeah, I heard he’s on some image repair tour. I think the best way for him to repair his image is to reverse all the damage he did to our government, to the American people," the Democrat lawmaker said. "Yeah, those servers are a big issue."

"We want to continue to investigate that. And certainly, I think some crimes may have been committed over the past 3 or 4 months, and they are going to come to light one way or another, even if it takes us getting into power again, but we will subpoena people and find out."

Meanwhile, Elon Musk confirmed on X Wednesday that his tenure as a "Special Government Employee" in the Trump administration is nearing its end.

"As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President@realDonaldTrumpfor the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending," he wrote. "The@DOGEmission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government."

According to a New York Times report, Musk is stepping back from his close alliance with President Trump, with unnamed White House officials claiming he remains on good terms but is “disillusioned with Washington and frustrated with the obstacles he encountered as he upended the federal bureaucracy."

The report suggests Musk, once self-described as Trump’s "first buddy," is now focusing on his companies.

Musk’s role, limited to 130 days per year as a special government employee, began with Trump’s inauguration in January 2025.

Trump had tapped Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy in November 2024 to lead DOGE, tasking them with slashing regulations, cutting wasteful spending, and restructuring federal agencies.

Prominent conservatives praised the work that Musk and DOGE accomplished to eliminate government waste and corruption.

"The work DOGE has done to eliminate government waste and corruption — the rot embedded deep within Washington — is among the most valuable services ever rendered to government," White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller tweeted. "And the work has only just begun."

"Thank you @elonmusk for your incredible efforts and sacrifices you made to launch DOGE to save America from our national debt crisis," Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) wrote. "This should only be the beginning of cutting waste, fraud, and abuse and delivering government efficiency for the American people."
