The Justice Department is digging into Black Lives Matter's fat coffers, probing whether the radical group's leaders pocketed millions in donor cash meant for "racial justice" amid the 2020 riots that torched American cities.
Federal agents have slapped subpoenas and executed at least one search warrant targeting the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Inc., the outfit that raked in over $90 million after George Floyd's death ignited nationwide chaos, anonymous sources told the Associated Press.
The probe, launched under Biden but ramped up under Trump, eyes potential fraud in the foundation's handling of donations exploded during protests that left deaths, looting, arson and billions in destruction in their wake.
"It was not clear if the investigation would result in criminal charges, but its mere existence invites fresh scrutiny to a movement that in recent years has faced criticism about its public accounting of donations it has received," the AP reports.
"The recent burst of investigative activity is also unfolding at a time when civil rights organizations have raised concerns about the potential for the Trump administration to target a variety of progressive and left-leaning groups that have been critical of him, including those affiliated with BLM, the transgender rights movement and anti-ICE protesters," the publication notes.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles leads the charge.

Critics have long blasted BLM for opacity, especially after $6 million bought a lavish Los Angeles mansion—complete with pool and six bedrooms—where co-founder Patrisse Cullors hosted personal bashes before resigning in 2023.
The foundation insists no wrongdoing.
"We remain committed to full transparency, accountability, and the responsible stewardship of resources dedicated to building a better future for Black communities," the group said in a statement, claiming it is “not a target of any federal criminal investigation."
Latest filings show $28 million in assets as of June 2024.
Born from George Zimmerman's acquittal of Trayvon Martin's murder and Michael Brown's 2014 Ferguson shooting, BLM morphed into a global leftist juggernaut—now under the federal microscope for allegedly betraying its own donors.
Taxpayers foot the bill while radicals cry political persecution.
