The Department of Justice released a computer-generated video appearing to depict Jeffrey Epstein attempting suicide in his jail cell as part of a larger document dump related to the late financier's cases, officials confirmed Monday.
The 12-second clip, timestamped 4:29 a.m. on Aug. 10, 2019, shows a white-haired man in an orange jumpsuit kneeling at the base of a bunk bed, struggling and jerking his head.

Epstein's body was reportedly discovered at approximately 6:30 a.m. that day at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, where he was awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges.
The video was posted without context on the DOJ website amid thousands of files made public following a congressional mandate for full disclosure.

However, inconsistencies quickly emerged.
This is Epstein’s prison cell per photos from DOJ released after his ‘suicide.’

The video released by FBI yesterday shows a completely different cell. LOL pic.twitter.com/qyZ9xpsx6I
Piles of orange clothing on the floor appeared as flat, textureless puddles, and the cell door did not match photographs of Epstein's actual tier.
Additional documents in the release revealed the clip originated from 4chan, an online forum, and had been flagged to investigators by a Florida-based conspiracy theorist as fabricated material.
The DOJ did not immediately respond to requests for comment on why the fake video was included.
Epstein, a convicted sex offender who associated with powerful figures, died at age 66.
The New York City medical examiner ruled the death a suicide by hanging.
Prosecutors have previously stated that surveillance cameras outside Epstein's cell malfunctioned on the night of his death.
An autopsy noted a broken hyoid bone, which some experts say can occur in hangings but is also associated with homicidal strangulation.
Over the summer, the FBI released a memo concluding Epstein committed suicide and possessed no blackmail client list.
Public skepticism persists due to reported irregularities, including destroyed footage from a prior alleged suicide attempt in July 2019, initially located but later attributed to a clerical error.
And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen — another bungled "transparency" effort from the DOJ that dumps disinformation right alongside the files, ensuring the real questions about Epstein's death and his elite connections remain buried deeper than ever.
