A former Fox television anchor faces first-degree murder charges after allegedly stabbing her 80-year-old mother to death on Halloween morning in a quiet suburban home.

Angelynn "Angie" Mock, 47, who once filled in as an anchor at KTVI Fox 2 in St. Louis, was arrested Oct. 31 at the scene in Wichita.

She is held at Sedgwick County Jail on $1 million bond.

Sedgwick County Police Department officers responded to a reported cutting at 7:52 a.m. Friday.

They found Mock outside the residence, covered in blood.

Inside, they discovered Anita Avers, a licensed marriage and family therapist, unresponsive in bed with multiple stab wounds.

Avers was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead approximately 30 minutes later.

Neighbor Alyssa Castro witnessed Mock’s frantic approach.

"There was a woman who approached our vehicle with like blood, like her hands were filled, her body was filled with blood, asking to call 911," Castro told KAKE-TV.

Mock seized Castro’s phone and returned inside to dial 911 herself.

During the call, she allegedly confessed, stating she stabbed her mother "to save herself."

Mock received hospital treatment for undisclosed injuries before booking.

Authorities have released no motive details or evidence supporting the self-defense claim. The investigation continues.

From broadcast booth to blood-soaked nightmare — this is the grotesque face of a fallen media darling, a grim reminder that evil hides behind the most polished smiles.
