Michelle Obama: Childbirth Is The ‘Least’ Important Thing Women’s Bodies Do

The former first lady Michelle Obama just took a sledgehammer to the sanctity of motherhood, declaring that a woman’s reproductive system is barely about creating life at all.

In a world where many whisper she might not even be a woman, Obama’s out here saying the miracle of birth is the least of what a woman’s body does.

Obama argued on her podcast, IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson, that a woman’s reproductive system’s primary role is not to produce life, calling it the "least" of its functions.

Speaking on Wednesday’s episode, Obama argued that men, particularly male lawmakers, politicians, and religious leaders, misunderstand women’s reproductive health by focusing solely on the fetus.

She claimed that women’s health encompasses far more than pregnancy, framing reproduction as a secondary function of a complex system, and criticize men, warning they know nothing about a woman’s experience.

"So many men have no idea about what women go through, right? We haven’t been researched. We haven’t been considered. And it still affects the way a lot of male lawmakers, a lot of male politicians, a lot of male religious leaders, think about the issue of choice as if it’s just about the fetus. The baby."

She doubled down, reducing the creation of life to a mechanical process.

"Women’s reproductive health is about our life. It’s about this whole complicated reproductive system that does… the least of what it does is produce life. It’s a very important thing that it does," she said. "But you only produce life if the machine that’s producing it, if you want to, you know, whittle us down to a machine, if the machine is functioning in a healthy, streamlined kind of way. But there is no discussion or apparent connection between the two."

Her guest, OB/GYN Dr. Sharon Malone, who supported Obama’s stance on women’s bodily autonomy.

"It’s not just about whether someone chooses to have a pregnancy or not, but this is a situation where a woman should have control over her body—when and if to have a baby, and to decide how that pregnancy should continue,"Dr. Malone said, echoing Obama’s views.

The remarks drew swift backlash.

"I'm sure 'her' daughters are thrilled that their 'mother' thinks they are the least important thing for 'her' to have done with that reproductive system," one social media user shot back.

"Because she has no life reproductive organs," another user wrote.

Obama has a long history of abortion advocacy.

In June 2022, she claimed she was "heartbroken" over the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, lamenting the impact on young women unable to "live the life she wants" due to state restrictions.

"I am heartbroken for people around this country who just lost the fundamental right to make informed decisions about their own bodies,” she said, adding that she is also "heartbroken" that "we may now be destined to learn the painful lessons of a time before Roe was made law of the land— a time when women risked losing their lives getting illegal abortions."

"This is what our mothers and grandmothers and great-grandmothers lived through, and now here we are again," she warned.

She urged support for groups like Planned Parenthood, which reported 402,230 abortions and $792.2 million in taxpayer funding in its 2023-2024 annual report.

The controversy is amplified by persistent rumors questioning Obama’s gender.

Many, including Infowars founder Alex Jones, have claimed Obama is transgender, referring to her as "Michael Obama."

Allegations that Obama is a man continue to resurface, particularly when she discusses women’s issues, with critics noting the irony of her remarks on female reproduction given the speculation.
