The Boozy Queen of Congress Bows Out After 40 Years

The slurring, stumbling Nancy Pelosi – queen of congressional cocktail hours – is finally staggering off the stage after one too many rounds with reality.

The 85-year-old San Francisco Democrat will reportedly not seek reelection in 2026 after representing her San Francisco district since 1987.

"Multiple Democratic elected officials and top aides in CA and Washington tell @NBCNews they believe NANCY PELOSI will choose not to seek re-election in 2026, after nearly four decades representing her San Francisco-based district,” NBC News' Scott Wong reports.

"I think she’s preparing to exit the stage," a House Democrat leadership aide told NBC News.

“I wish she would stay for 10 more years,” a House Democrat from California told the publication.

Pelosi, who served two terms as speaker, introduced proxy voting in the House on May 27, 2020, the first since 1789.

Seventy-one Democrats voted by proxy in the initial tally under the party-line rule.

The scheme lasted over two years.

In 2020, one Maryland Democrat cast seven proxy votes on legislation in districts he did not represent.

Pelosi’s spokesman, Ian Krager, called retirement talk "pure speculation."

"Speaker Pelosi is fully focused on her mission to win the Yes on 50 special election in California on Tuesday," Krager said. "She urges all Californians to join in that mission on the path to taking back the House for Democrats."

Democrats expect Pelosi to announce her plans after Tuesday’s election on Proposition 50, a ballot measure to redraw California’s congressional lines that she champions to gain House seats.

Her potential exit would trigger a scramble for her seat.

Challengers include state Sen. Scott Wiener and former tech executive Saikat Chakrabarti, ex-chief of staff to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.

Pelosi has raised over $2 million this cycle and holds a $1.5 million war chest.

Last month, Pelosi unleashed a profanity-laced tirade in an NBC Boston interview, dropping two F-bombs.

And just like that, the boozy baroness of the Bay bows out — only to be replaced by the next unhinged hack in a conga line of Democrat nutcases stretching from San Francisco to the swamp.
