Obama Officials Face Grand Jury Over Trump-Russia Collusion Hoax Allegations

The Justice Department has launched a federal grand jury investigation into former Obama administration officials, including heavyweights like former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former FBI Director James Comey.

The probe centers on allegations that these figures orchestrated a false narrative tying then-candidate Donald Trump to Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign.

The investigation, spurred by a criminal referral from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, threatens to expose a calculated effort to derail Trump’s first term.

Attorney General Pam Bondi, acting on Gabbard’s referral, has ordered an unnamed federal prosecutor to present evidence to the grand jury, a move that could pave the way for indictments.

A DOJ spokesperson, declining to comment directly on the investigation, told Fox News Digital, "Bondi is taking the referrals from Gabbard ‘very seriously’ and believes there is ‘clear cause for deep concern’ and a need for next steps."

The probe builds on declassified documents released by Gabbard, including a December 2016 presidential briefing that revealed a stark truth: Obama knew the Trump-Russia collusion narrative was baseless.

"We assess that foreign adversaries did not use cyber attacks on election infrastructure to alter the US Presidential election outcome this year. We have no evidence of cyber manipulation of election infrastructure intended to alter results,” the report stated.

Yet, despite this intelligence, Obama allegedly ordered an assessment claiming Russia intervened to help Trump defeat Hillary Clinton.

Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman turned Trump ally, didn’t mince words: "These documents detail a treasonous conspiracy by officials at the highest levels of the Obama White House to subvert the will of the American people and try to usurp the President from fulfilling his mandate."

Her referral points to evidence that Obama, along with Clapper, Brennan, and Comey, promoted a "contrived narrative" to sow distrust in the democratic process, setting the stage for the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation and years of special counsel probes that ultimately found no evidence of collusion.

President Trump, reflecting on the saga, has framed it as a personal and political betrayal.

In an interview with Newsmax host Rob Finnerty, Trump said, "I let [Hillary Clinton] off the hook. I let her off the hook for what? And then I come in and they did the same thing to me. The difference is, they actually meant it, and they hurt a lot of people, and it was all a hoax. And now they have it in black and white. No, I think they should pay a price."

Trump’s accusation of a “treasonous and seditious conspiracy” underscores the gravity of the allegations, though a 2024 Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity may shield Obama himself from prosecution.

The investigation also zeroes in on Brennan, accused of lying to Congress in May 2023 about the infamous Steele dossier—a document funded by Clinton’s campaign and the DNC, which fueled much of the collusion narrative.

Brennan claimed the CIA opposed including the dossier in an Obama-ordered intelligence report, telling Congress, "The CIA was very much opposed to having any reference or inclusion of the Steele dossier."

Yet, records contradict him, revealing Brennan wrote at the time, "I believe that the information warrants inclusion."

This discrepancy has placed the 69-year-old former CIA chief squarely in the crosshairs.Legal hurdles loom large.

Statutes of limitation for many offenses from 2016 have expired, potentially limiting the scope of charges.

It remains unclear where the grand jury is convened—whether in Democratic-leaning Washington, D.C., or elsewhere—or who exactly it targets. Still, the probe marks a bold escalation in efforts to hold accountable those who, in Trump’s view, weaponized intelligence to undermine his presidency.

The allegations, if proven, could rewrite the history of a divisive era, exposing a plot not just against a president, but against the very fabric of American democracy.
