The FBI is investigating "a lot more" than 20 individuals linked to a Discord chatroom where Tyler Robinson, the suspected assassin of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, allegedly discussed his plans, FBI Director Kash Patel told a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday.

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., pressed Patel on the scope of the investigation, citing reports of a Discord thread with approximately 30 users.

"I see the public reports that the Discord thread had as many as 20 additional users. It sounds like you’re trying to run down all of that to see if that’s accurate. Who else may have been on that thread, what they may have known? Is that fair to say?" Hawley asked."It’s a lot more than that, and we’re running them all down," Patel replied.

"We’re also going to be investigating anyone and everyone involved in that Discord chat.”Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., questioned whether Robinson acted alone.

"Did Mr. Kirk’s assassin act alone?" Kennedy asked.

"There are a number of individuals that are currently being investigated and interrogated — and a number yet to be investigated and interrogated related to that chatroom," Patel responded.

When Kennedy followed up, asking, "So others could have been involved?"

Patel confirmed, "Yes, sir."

Patel revealed the FBI has served legal processes on Discord to access the digital footprint of the chatroom, described as an online "gaming chat room."

He emphasized the urgency of pursuing all leads, stating, "Those closest to the suspect are going to hopefully know the most about the suspect and his beliefs and his ideology. We’re continuing to do that."

The investigation follows a Washington Post report that Robinson, 22, confessed in the Discord chat to fatally shooting Kirk, 31, at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.

"Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at [Utah Valley University] yesterday. I’m sorry for all of this," Robinson allegedly wrote two hours after the attack. "I’m surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments. Thanks for all the good times and laughs, you’ve all been so amazing, thank you all for everything."

Robinson faces seven charges, including aggravated murder and felony discharge of a firearm, with Utah County Attorney Jeffrey Gray confirming he will seek the death penalty.

Gray noted that Utah permits execution by firing squad. He also revealed that Robinson’s mother told investigators her son had shifted toward a "leftist ideology," becoming "more pro-gay and trans Rights oriented" over the past year.

Robinson reportedly texted his roommate, a transgender individual, after the shooting, stating, "I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out."

Hawley raised concerns about a broader pattern of violence, asking, "Is the FBI investigating the Kirk assassination as part of this broader pattern of anti-religious, anti-Christian violence?"

Patel responded, "We are investigating Charlie’s assassination fully and completely and running out every lead related to any allegation of broader violence."

Investigators are also exploring whether pro-trans online groups, "furry" communities, or Steam users had prior knowledge of the attack. Armed Queers SLC, a far-left group, removed its Instagram page after the incident.

Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot in the neck while answering a question about transgender mass shooters.

Robinson’s father turned him in on Sept. 11, and Patel credited FBI-posted images for aiding the suspect’s identification.

Discord stated there is "no evidence that the suspect planned this incident or promoted violence" on its platform.

Robinson has since ceased cooperating with authorities.

And so, the chilling truth unfolds: a digital cesspool of radicalized voices, cloaked in anonymity, may have fueled a cold-blooded murder.

Charlie Kirk, a beacon of conservative values, was silenced by a bullet, allegedly from a young man steeped in the toxic brew of leftist ideology.

As the FBI digs deeper, one question haunts: how many more are out there, lurking in the shadows of online echo chambers, ready to strike?
