What Christian Movies Are Coming Out in 2024?

comment-1 Created with Sketch Beta.

Right before COVID, Hollywood was releasing between 600 and 800 movies every year. Many of these are rated PG-13, and while action movies can be a great deal of fun, sometimes that deeper introspective or inspirational edge is missing from today’s entertainment

What could 2024 have in store? We can give you a nice, clean, Christian-based film selection if you're looking for that.

What Christian Movies Are Coming Out in 2024?

Many great Christian movies are set to be released, or have already released, in 2024, including The Forge, Mary, Unsung Hero, and more. All of these movies have that one inspiring twist that makes us feel more connected with our faith.

Here's a list of some of the most anticipated or popular Christian movies that you can't miss this 2024.

1) The Forge

The Forge is a Christian drama film written and directed by Alex and Stephen Kendrick, released in August 2024. After finishing high school, Isaiah Wright has no idea what to do with his life. Encouraged by his mother, a successful businessman, and through prayer and biblical teachings, Isaiah discovers what God’s purpose for his life really is. It is a spin-off of War Room (2005), another acclaimed movie by the Kendrick brothers.

You can find it on Netflix, AppleTV, Prime, and Rakuten.

2) Ordinary Angels

Based on a true story, Ordinary Angels is a moving film about faith, family, and miracles. Sharon, a struggling hairdresser, discovers a renewed sense of purpose when she meets Ed, a widowed father of two girls. Ed’s youngest daughter is sick and waiting for a liver transplant. Fierce and determined, Sharon decides to pour her heart into this family and help them.

You can find it on Netflix, AppleTV, Prime, and Rakuten.

3) Mary

Mary is a cinematic retelling of the life of the mother of Jesus. Viewers can follow Mary from childhood to the birth of Jesus. With this film, Director D.J. Caruso intended to “inspire, particularly younger viewers, to say, 'Wow, Mary could be my friend. A lot of what she went through is contemporary and what's happening in the world today.'” It’s an ode to Mary’s strength, love, and faith.

Watch it on Netflix.

4) Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot

Sound of Hope is a heartwarming story. Donna, Reverend Martin, and their tiny church in Possum, East Texas, move mountains to encourage 22 families to adopt 77 of the most difficult-to-place foster kids. This movie makes us think about how important the Church and community are.

You can watch it through Prime or Angel Studios.

5) Unsung Hero

Unsung Hero is a remarkable film based on the true story behind the Christian band For King & Country. It follows Helen and her husband David, who move from Australia to the States to find a brighter future. Their unshakable faith and determination help them and their kids move forward even when things are uncertain. This sets the stage for their musical success.

You can find it on Netflix, Prime, AppleTV, and Rakuten.

6) Someone Like You

Someone Like You is an earnest Christian romance, based on a novel with the same title. The movie starts with Dawson losing his best friend, London. Rattled but loyal, Dawson searches for London's long-lost twin sibling. The catch is, Dawson never intended to fall in love along the way. There are themes of faith, forgiveness, and family that run through the movie.

Someone Like You is available on AppleTV, Prime and Rakuten.

7) Average Joe

Joe Kennedy, a former Marine turned high school football coach, always prays before each game. However, he receives backlash and pushback from the school and even his wife. It’s up to Kennedy to fight for and defend his faith, his freedom, and religious liberty for everyone.

Find Average Joe on Prime.

8) The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

A Christian move marathon would be incomplete without a cozy Christmas movie. The Herdmans are synonymous with trouble. These six siblings are unruly and mischievous misfits. So when they take over the local church’s pageant, everyone is expecting the celebration to be a complete disaster. In a turn of events, they may just end up teaching this skeptical town the true meaning of Christmas.

You can watch The Best Christmas Pageant Ever on Netflix, AppleTV, Prime, and Rakuten.

9) Cabrini

Cabrini tells the story of catholic missionary Francesa Cabrini. She arrives in 1889 New York to a city filled with disease, crime, and impoverished children. Battling tuberculosis, obstacles, discrimination, and sexism, Cabrini is determined to help these children in need. You will think about the power of determination and faith after watching this movie.

You can catch this flick on Angel Studios, AppleTV, or Amazon Video.

10) A Carpenter's Prayer

Desperate to build a new church for their community, a pastor and his family are running out of options. Suddenly, a troubled carpenter steps in. Against the odds, he will become the unlikely source of hope and redemption that the community needs. A Carpenter's Prayer is based on the true story of a pastor and his family who set out to build a new church in rural Michigan during the 1970s.

Watch it on Prime.
