In stunning video is doing the rounds on social media which shows an octopus taking a ride on a shark's back! This footage was captured by a research team from the University of Auckland in New Zealand in 2023 but has since resurfaced.

Marine ecologist Rochelle Constantine was first to spot the strange duo in the water. “At first, I was like, ‘Is it a buoy?’” she told the New York Times. “‘Is it entangled in fishing gear or had a big bite?’”

Upon closer inspection the research team discovered that the orange mass was actually an octopus hintching a ride. The team later dubbed the duo "sharktopus."
