Karine Jean-Pierre, the Biden White House’s mouthpiece who spent years dodging questions and defending Sleepy Joe’s mental gymnastics, has ditched the Democrats for a shiny new "independent" label.
And surprise, surprise—she’s cashing in with a tell-all book that promises to spill the beans on a "broken" administration.
Sounds like someone’s trying to trade her podium for a payday.

Jean-Pierre, former White House press secretary under Biden, announced on Wednesday she has left the Democratic Party and registered as an independent.
The move coincides with the promotion of her forthcoming book, Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines, set for release on October 21 by Hachette Book Group.
Jean-Pierre, 50, served as Biden’s top spokesperson for over two years, having previously worked under President Barack Obama.
Her book is expected to detail the tumultuous three weeks leading to Biden’s withdrawal from his 2024 re-election bid, which promotional materials attribute partly to a "betrayal by the Democratic Party."

The publisher’s release states Jean-Pierre "didn’t come to her decision to be an Independent lightly," emphasizing her critique of partisan politics and her call for Americans to embrace independent political identities.
In a promotional Instagram video, Jean-Pierre said, "I think we need to stop thinking in boxes and think outside of our boxes, and not be so partisan … this book 'Independent,' it’s about looking outside of boxes, not just always being in a partisan stance."

Her announcement has drawn sharp criticism from former colleagues and Democratic operatives.
"What her publisher means to tell readers is that she is INCOMPETENT, not independent. Just incompetent. But we don’t need to read about it—we watched it," a prominent Democratic source told New York The Post.
"Put this ‘bombshell’ at the top of the Trump book-burn pile," the source added. "Right next to Jake Tapper’s own toothless tome."
Another former Biden administration official, speaking anonymously, claimed Jean-Pierre’s pivot to independent status is financially motivated, noting that colleagues were "cackling in chats all day" over the news.
"It’s just very confusing for the person who was the face of an entire Democratic administration to then leave the Democrats as a whole,” the official said, adding, “The book by its cover looks to be negative about Biden. We all assumed they were on good terms. I am frustrated with the Dems but I’m not going to leave them when they’re down. That’s weak."
Caitlin Legacki, a Democratic strategist who served in the Biden administration, criticized the book’s premise, saying, "Kamala Harris and the entire Biden/Harris campaign did hero’s work to avoid losing 400 electoral votes and giving Republicans a supermajority in Congress, which is what would have happened if he stayed on the ticket."
She added, "People will literally die because of Republican Medicaid cuts. Kids will go hungry because of SNAP cuts. The only reason we stand a chance to reduce the harm inflicted is the Democratic Party did the right thing here."
Jean-Pierre’s tenure was marked by controversy, including her defense of Biden’s mental acuity as he ostensibly struggled with cognitive decline.
In 2022, she claimed Biden called out the late Rep. Jackie Walorski, R-Ind., during an event because she was "top of mind," drawing skepticism from reporters.
In July 2024, Jean-Pierre insisted Biden was “sharp as ever,” despite public concerns.
She also faced internal criticism, with a 2023 attempt by then-communications chief Anita Dunn to oust her, supported by Chief of Staff Jeff Zients.
Jean-Pierre survived but left colleagues frustrated by her reliance on scripted responses and focus on personal media exposure, including profiles in Vogue and Women’s Health and appearances on The View.
Her final briefing in January 2025 sparked outrage when she prioritized her farewell over a major hostage release announcement, with one source saying, "She basically said it was her goodbye party. She kinda marketed it as a celebration of her and her tenure, and unfortunately, that took precedence over huge breaking news."

Another Democratic operative called the move "the most grift-y thing I’ve seen in a long time, and that’s saying something in Washington."
Jean-Pierre spent years carrying water for Biden, fumbling at the podium, and now she’s flipping the script to cash in on the chaos she helped spin. Typical D.C. hustle—same old story, just a new cover.
