What is a Liberal Redneck?

comment-1 Created with Sketch Beta.

Ever since the 1950s, Southern states have been proudly Republican. Either desperate to win them back or pathetically stingy, the Democrats have resorted to comedians to alleviate their situation.

Should we laugh, cry, or both?

What is a Liberal Redneck?

“Redneck” is a derogatory term referring to working-class white Southerners who are proud of their faith, rural roots, and unapologetic about their conservative values—except that a liberal redneck is, well, liberal.

Rude, angry, loud, and poorly educated, the liberal redneck is here to stir up a storm about “progressiveness”. Fortunately, there are not many of them. If anything, there’s only one true real liberal redneck. It’s someone who is attempting to use the same redneck charm, but to rant and rave about leftist ideas. In this article, you’ll get to know all about him.

Who is “Liberal Redneck”?

Liberal Redneck’s real name is Trae Crowder, a Tennessee stand-up comedian who is become infamous for his fervent criticism of conservatives. Once, he was a little-known comedian. Now, he’s making a career out of blue-pilling everyone and mocking the very culture that raised him.

Crowder’s raunchy Liberal Redneck character has scored him his own show, a YouTube channel with millions of views, a podcast, and interviews and endorsements from labels like Forbes, Warner Bros, MSNBC, FOX, ABC, and The Huffington Post. Surprisingly, his journey to stardom occurred almost overnight.

On April 13, mid 2010s, a Southern pastor posted a video responding to the “Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act”, a bill that aims to protect women and children by requiring people to use public restrooms that correspond with their biological sex. Supporting this act, the pastor shared with viewers the dangers posed by “a bunch of perverts usin’ this thing to go into bathrooms, pick at little girls.” It went viral quickly, due to his commitment to preventing the letting in of “a bunch of perverts in the bathrooms of our churches.”

In a rare lightbulb moment for Crowder, he realized he could rant against this commonsense legislation and kick-off his teenage aspiration of being funny one day, all in one take.

He cranked up his identity as a redneck and a liberal to 11, complete with a cut-off T-shirt, ball cap, and full-on Tennessee twang. All dolled-up, he recorded a video ranting about the bathroom bill and about having the Bible as the Sate’s official book. It gathered 26 million views on Facebook, comments and fans were flooding his inbox, and newspapers were reaching out. And thus, Liberal Redneck was born—proving that anybody can post anything these days.

“It changed everything about my life,” stated Crowder all-too proudly in an interview with Forbes. He soon quit his job with the United States Department of Energy. A dream come true, now he makes a living out of pandering to progressive audiences who find comfort in seeing a rural Southerner reject his conservative roots (he even published a book called The Liberal Redneck Manifesto: Draggin' Dixie Outta the Dark).

Where is Liberal Redneck from?

Liberal Redneck grew up in Celina, Tennessee—a small, struggling town without even a Walmart or traffic light. He says his political views were shaped by personal hardship, claiming that the political climate in the forsaken town was apathetic, rather than conservative.

He affirms his Liberal Redneck alter is a product of his upbringing: “My mom was an addict, in and out of jail… She wasn’t sitting around with her girlfriends talking about Clinton foreign policy.” In addition to a family history of addiction, Crowder’s uncle is gay. Rather than rising above difficult circumstances with gratitude and grace, Crowder chose to promote the woke agenda and other vulgar brand of progressivism in his performances.

Trae Crowder may speak with a twang, but his speech is far from traditional. While the mainstream media celebrates him for betraying the South, many conservatives see him for what he is: a loud, angry pawn trying to reshape Southern identity.

Fortunately, the Liberal Redneck remains a fringe character. Despite the noise he creates online, real rednecks—conservative, hardworking, and proud—aren’t buying what he’s selling.
